Mold making defines the accuracy and repeatability of the casting process.
Meisner Art Casting provides custom mold-making services for artists, designers, fabricators, institutions, and commercial clients throughout the United States. We create molds for one-of-a-kind pieces and production runs, either as a standalone service or as part of a larger casting and fabrication project.
Projects may begin with a physical model, prototype, digital file, or a combination of reference materials. When needed, our model-making capabilities allow us to develop a production-ready model before creating the mold.
How is the right mold selected?
Every mold is developed according to the form, level of detail, casting material, intended quantity, and production requirements of the project. Depending on those requirements, we may use rubber, fiberglass, plaster, or a combination of mold-making materials and support systems.
The quality of the mold directly affects surface detail, dimensional accuracy, casting consistency, and repeatability. Careful planning at this stage helps preserve the original design and supports reliable results throughout production.
Can mold making be a standalone service?
Yes. Meisner Art Casting can create a custom mold for use by the client or another production provider. We can also manage the subsequent casting, fabrication, and finishing stages when a project requires complete production support.
